Israeli security forces and Muslim rioters clashed near Jerusalem's Temple Mount, Sunday.

Police used stun grenades to disperse the hundreds of Palestinians protestors who gathered Sunday morning at the site's Al-Aqsa Mosque. Three police officers were wounded and 15 protestors were arrested in the clashes.

Police created a wall with glass shields to stop the crowd, sending many rioters running into the mosque for cover.

By late Sunday afternoon, many of the protestors were still hiding in the mosque and crowds gathered outside as the unrest continued.

Some youth were also seen throwing stones and bottles at police who remained in the area.

The violence erupted after police announced on Saturday that would increase security around the Temple Mount. Muslim leaders had previously encouraged Arabs to defend Jerusalem against "Jewish conquest."
